National Outreach Convention Day 2

Another fantastic day here in San Diego at the National Outreach Convention!  Dan Kimball and Leonard Sweet spoke this morning about the changing cultural landscape.  Kimball especially had some "take home" moments.

1.  He reminded us that we are all to be missionaries.  It is the purpose Jesus himself gave us.  Missionaries go out and study their culture and figure out the best, simplest, and clearest way to share the Gospel in what ever setting they are in.  There is one thing good missionaries never do.  They do not create Christian subcultures.  How true!  I was convicted on this point.  To be perfectly honest, I am always more comfortable in a constructed culture.  Christ does not offer us a life of personal comfort if we follow him.

2.  Kimball had the quote of the day when it comes to living out the misison.  "Get the heck (sic) out in the world and meet people who need Jesus".  That can never be accomplished if we see our churches as castles that lock people out.  Let them in, lead them to Christ and send them out.
